ELI RESEARCHER
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To coordinate the internal research and evaluation activities of the
local and national ELI Programmes, including applications for funding
to support projects.
REPORTING TO:
ELI National Centre Assistant Director
KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
* ELI Director and Assistant Directors
* ELI Research Team,
* National College of Ireland
* Members of ELI Advisory Groups
* Stakeholders in the local community, including parents, children
and practitioners
* National Organisations including the Home Visiting Alliance and
Prevention and Early Intervention Network
* Tusla Child and Family agency, statutory agencies, corporate
organisations, community partners and other funders
* Area Based Childhood (ABC)/Dublin’s Inner City and National
teams
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Coordination of research and evaluation activities for local and
national ELI programmes
* Collection, collation and analysis of qualitative and quantitative
data
* Coordination and lead writer of grant applications to secure
funding for ELI programmes
* Preparing and maintaining records, reports and/or test data
* Developing and maintaining a database of participants, children,
parents and families, including Home Visiting CRM systems and ABC
Outcomes Framework
* Develop the capacity of the ELI team to conduct research
activities and contribute to ELI and NCI research goals and strategy
* Lead on research activities for Science Foundation Ireland grants
* Participate on local and national working groups to progress
ELI’s research agenda
* Disseminate learnings through papers, conferences, presentations
and other platforms
* Liaise with key stakeholders, including ABC Consortium, Tusla, ELI
funders, other Departments within NCI in relation to ELI research
activities
* Provide information as required to the Assistant Directors and NCI
to support funding reports and budget returns
* Other appropriate research and administrative activities as needed
* Any other duties as assigned by the Director and/or Assistant
Directors
KEY ATTRIBUTES:
* A relevant postgraduate qualification
* Excellent research, administrative and organisational skills
* Extensive knowledge and ability to use CRM
* Skills and experience in conducting research and evaluation
studies
* Professional interest in early years education and family based
learning.
* Ability to work closely with marginalised families and have an
understanding of the issues of marginalisation
* Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of College
personnel, community stakeholders and other outside
individuals/organizations
* Good time management skills with the ability to produce results to
deadlines.
* Ability to operate as a team player in a cross disciplinary,
integrated team, sharing roles and responsibilities.
* An energetic, confident and pro-active individual with strong
interpersonal and communication skills
* Excellent IT skills in Ms Excel Ms Word, SPSS and other relevant
research packages etc.

CONTRACT: 6 months Fixed-term contract
